With the start of a new blog, I thought it would be good to start with how I got to this point in my life, in this community. I came to Michigan from Los Angeles in 2002 to attend the University of Michigan and run on the Track and Cross Country teams. I was a distance runner, and ended up falling in love with Ann Arbor between runs and class time.
I met my now husband, Gene Skidmore here. We bought our first home in Dexter, MI in 2007 (yes, right before things got really bad) and just moved into what will hopefully be our forever home last November. Our family of four kids and Phoebe the dog is complete, and we love doing things in and around the area in our free time.
What I didn’t know the first time around (in home-ownership that is) was how to maintain a home once we bought it. We never had the furnace or AC inspected. We never flushed the hot water tank. We didn’t check for radon or test the water aside from the reports from our sub-division every few years.
So in turn, this blog will be part real estate, part owning a home, part living in Washtenaw County in general – and hopefully there’s a little something here for everyone!
